Spring 2026 Season
U3A NEWS.
A very warm welcome back to all our members as we begin another busy year. And welcome to our new platform, The Anglo Celt, as we bid farewell to The Northern Standard and thank them for many happy years of wonderful service.
MEMBERSHIP.
Our current membership stands at over 700 people. Renewal fees are now due and a text will be sent to all members shortly with payment options.
New members are requested to pay, by cash or preferably by cheque, in the envelopes provided in the Monaghan Credit Union. Please ensure that you include all your contact details on the envelope as requested.
Annual fees remain at €15pp.

Please note - you must be a member to avail of any of our activities. Once you have paid you will then receive regular texts updating you about forthcoming activities.
CLASSES (Some have already started or are fully subscribed).
MONDAY:
ZOOM FITNESS, 8:30am. This is a free class.
LINE DANCING, cost €31× 6 classes. 11am (beginners)+11:45(improvers).
FRENCH, 2pm (beginners)+ 2:45(improvers). €3 per class.
SCULPTURE, 2:30pm, €6 per class.
TUESDAY:
CHOIR, 11am, €4 per class.
ART, 2pm + 4pm, €39×8 classes
WEDNESDAY:
WALKING GROUP, 10:30 am , Rossmore Park. Free event.
PILATES,11am(beginners)+12noon (improvers).€32×6 classes.
SOCIAL DANCING, 2pm, €29×6 classes.
SPANISH, 2pm(beginners)+2:45pm (improvers) €18× 6 classes.
CHAIR EXERCISES, 3:30pm+4:15pm (same level), €24×6 classes.
THURSDAY:
PILATES, 9:00+10:00(same level), €32×6 classes.
CHAIR EXERCISES, 11am, €25×6 classes.
SWIMMING, Four Seasons pool, €8 per session.
All classes take place in The Pastoral Centre, unless otherwise stated in the texts sent to all members before sessions begin.
The possibility of Yoga classes and Crochet classes are also currently being explored.
EVENTS:
POEMS AND PINTS takes place in Maggie Charlie's, Ballinode, at 8pm on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
THE BOOK CLUB meets in the library at 2 pm, also on the 3rd.Thursday of every month. This date can be flexible and is confirmed at the end of each meeting.
Tea and coffee provided. This month's book is Slough House by Mick Herron.
COFFEE MORNING, in The Four Seasons Hotel at 11am every Thursday.
THE MONTHLY TALK takes place in The Four Seasons Hotel at 11 am on the last Friday of each month. Tea and coffee provided. February speaker is Enda Galligan from The Old Monaghan Society.
All these events are free.
TRIPS:
This year's trips, so far, include Day Trips, City Breaks and a River Cruise.
FEBRUARY 18TH:
A Day Trip to The Gaiety Theatre to see The Crucible by Arthur Miller, with Charlene McKenna.
FEBRUARY 27TH-MARCH 3RD:
A River Cruise on The Danube, visiting Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest.
APRIL 6TH -9TH:
A City Break to Cork, staying in The Talbot Hotel. (A few places still available on this trip).
MAY 9TH-13TH:
A City Break to Munich.
JUNE 24TH:
A Day Trip to Kilmainham Jail and The Botanic Gardens. Details of this trip will be texted to all members in due course.
The French and Spanish classes also organise yearly trips abroad. This year the Spanish class is going to Cadiz on February 22nd and the French class is going to Tours at the end of May.
ANNUAL PARTY:
Arrangements for this are currently being explored, with a provisional date of March 19th. Details will be texted to all members when finalised.
AGM:
This year's AGM takes place in The Four Seasons Hotel at 11am on Friday, February 13th.
Membership fees may be paid by card on the day.
We hope to see many of you at one or more of these activities.
